A granite pad under mill-red brick
The sensors live on a slab we poured in 2017 and recored in 2022. It is not a gym tile. It is not a medical gait lab. It is a mill-floor instrument that prints how New Hampshire golfers load their spikes.
Hardware
Bars, not rainbows
The live view is a stack of force bars — trail heel, trail mid, trail toe, lead heel, lead mid, lead toe — plus a CoP trace. We refuse the candy heatmap some clinics hang on a TV. Candy hides a late dump behind pretty color. Bars do not.
Why granite
Mill brick already hums. The pad should not.
875 Elm sits in a building that used to shake when the Amoskeag looms ran. The joists still talk when a truck hits the pothole on Stark. If the pad is a foam sandwich, every truck becomes a fake peak on the force-time curve. We isolated the slab on neoprene and pinned it to brick so the only verticals we keep are the ones under your shoes.
Sampling is fast enough to catch a hop that lasts a blink. We do not sell the sample rate on a banner. We sell the fact that a hop is visible, and a hop is not a shift.
The mill-red lintel outside is paint. The brass threshold is original. Wipe spikes before you step on granite. Ice grit from Elm in January will scratch the top film and scatter a heel reading by enough to waste a morning.
Shoes we allow
Wear the spikes you actually walk eighteen in
- Winter boots stay in the hall. They smear CoP toward the heel and lie about April.
- Street gum soles are banned on counted swings. They skate on granite.
- Soft spikes are fine. Metal is fine if you wipe the ice grit.
- If you play in a mixed pair — one old, one new — bring both. The pad will pick a favorite.
What this room refuses
We are not a gait clinic and not a wrist studio
No one here diagnoses a knee. No one here rebuilds a hinge. If a load pattern is clearly a medical problem, we send you out of the mill. If the question is “which head,” we still start at the feet. Heads wait in the rack until the sheet says the dump is honest.
